Franklin Tartaglione - Fine Decorative Painting - Murals - Franklin Tartaglione has worked with many of the world's most renowned interior designers. In the early 1980's he was first assistant at the side of the late Robert Jackson, then the premier decorative artist in the country; he formed his own firm in 1986. Clients have included The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, where in addition to his decorative work in the American Wing’s period rooms, his fine art is represented in the museum's permanent drawing collection. Other notable clients include The White House, Blair House, the Diplomatic Reception Rooms at The State Department in Washington D.C., Merchant / Ivory Productions, and several projects for The Royal Family of The Netherlands. In addition, it has been Franklin’s great pleasure to make artistic contributions to hundreds of the country's most distinguished private residences.

This mural, drawing on views of Nagasaki Harbor as represented in early 19th century English painting, was designed by Franklin Tartaglione for the dining room of a small house in Martha’s Vineyard. The client is a collector of blue and white Chinese porcelain, a collection for which the mural serves as a handsome backdrop.
